What to bring on a Kuwait boat trip (and what we provide)

Figuring out what to bring on a boat trip shouldn’t cost you sleep the night before. The good news is that we already carry most of what you need, so your packing list is short. Here’s exactly what’s on board when you step aboard at Al Khiran, what you should bring yourself, and a few practical notes so your day on the Gulf goes smoothly.

On board the SeaQuest boat heading out from Al Khiran, Kuwait

What we provide

Everything for the water is included on every trip. You don’t need to rent or buy any of this:

  • Fuel for the full six hours
  • A 150-liter cooler with drinking water and ice
  • Snorkeling equipment for the group
  • Free paddle board use
  • A sea rug, pool noodles, and floats
  • A freedive buoy with line and weights
  • Fishing gear: handlines, hooks, and weights

No fishing license is needed for recreational fishing, so the handlines are ready to go. If you want the full rundown of the boat and its features, it’s all on our boat page.

What you bring

Your list is simple. Pack these and you’re set:

  • Your ID. Bring it in case of a coast guard check.
  • Lunch or snacks. The cooler has water and ice, but food is up to you.
  • Swimwear, a towel, and a long-sleeved shirt. The shirt is your best friend against the sun.
  • Sunscreen and a hat.
  • Seasickness medication if you’re prone to it.
  • Your own gear if you prefer it: rods, jigs, or a dive computer are all welcome.

Practical notes for a good day

Sun and heat

The Gulf sun is strong, especially in summer. A long-sleeved shirt, a hat, and regular sunscreen do more than any single item to keep you comfortable. There’s a large overhead shade on the boat, so you’ll always have a cool spot to duck under. If you’re planning around the weather, our Kuwait weather guide is worth a read.

Food and the grill

Pack lunch, or turn the day into a cookout. You can add a gas grill and bring your own food, or choose the grill launch and we’ll handle burgers for you. Fishing bait, shrimp and cuttlefish, is available as an add-on too. You’ll find all the add-ons on the rates and booking page.

Seasickness

If motion bothers you, take your medication before you leave the dock rather than after you feel it. It works best ahead of time. The stepped deep-V hull rides Gulf chop well, but any boat moves.

Kids and non-swimmers

Alhala Island is our shallow, calm choice for families with kids, and the floats and pool noodles make it easy for young ones to enjoy the water safely. Passengers under 18 must have a guardian aboard. This part matters: tell the captain before departure if anyone in your group can’t swim, so we can look out for them all day.

One last thing

Please help us keep these waters clean. We encourage catch and release, though you’re welcome to keep your catch, and we ask that nothing gets littered into the sea. There’s no alcohol on board, and smoking is permitted.

That’s the whole list. Pack light, show up 15 minutes early, and we’ll handle the rest. When you’re ready, pick your date on the booking page and come see what a real day on the water feels like.
